Paul and Barnabas

Paul Helps Barnabas

Scripture:
Serve one another in love
-Galatians 5:13

Key Word(s):
Christian: a believer of Christ
Gentile: Anyone that is not a Jew

Daily Review:
(NEW) What is the longest book of the bible?
Psalm
What did Jesus ride on Palm Sunday? Donkey
What did the donkey represent? Peace and humility
Who asked to walk on water with Jesus? Peter
Why did Peter start sinking? Because he became afraid
How did the blind men know Jesus was walking by? They heard him
Tell me three things about Zacchaeus. He was shunned, short, and worked for the Roman gov't

Lesson:

  • There was a place named Antioch

-In Antioch, the people learned about Jesus: how he  lived, died and rose again
-In Antioch the people did not care if a person was Jewish or a Gentile (many Jews believed that Jesus had only died for them)
-People started calling the believers Christians first in Antioch

  • The Christians wanted to know more about Jesus so they needed a teacher.
  • The people of Jerusalem sent Barnabas to help teach the Christians in Antioch
  • When Barnabas arrived in Antioch he realized why these people were called Christians, but he was only one person and could not teach them all
  • Barnabas sent for Paul for him to come help him
  • Barnabas and Paul worked together telling people the good news about Jesus for a whole year.
