Bessie Coleman was the first black woman to earn a pilot's license. Because flying schools in the United States denied her entry, she taught herself French and moved to France, earning her license from France's well-known Caudron Brother's School of Aviation in just seven months. Coleman specialized in stunt flying and parachuting, earning a living barnstorming and performing aerial tricks. She remains a pioneer of women in the field of aviation.

Black History Fact---Did you know?
On February 18, 1688, the first organized protest against
slavery in the Americas held in 1688 by four Pennsylvania Quakers from
Germantown Meeting. Gerrey Hendericks, Derick up de Graeff, Francis Daniell
Pastorius, and Abraham up den Graef organized the protest and presented their
opposition to slavery and the trafficking of human beings. In the document, the
Quakers use the golden rule as an argument against the inhuman treatment of
African Americans: "We shall doe to all men licke as we will be done ourselves;
macking no difference of what generation, descent or colour they are".
(translation: We shall do all men like as we will be done ourselves; making no
difference of what generation, descent, or color they are).
Seeing the injustices of the slave trade, they courageously
took a stand against slavery based on their religious and moral beliefs.

persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to come,Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lesson:
Say Thank You!
Scripture:
Scripture:
Pray for one another, that they may be healed
James 5:16
Leprosy: A disease that causes sores all over the body and it also cause rotting of the body parts.
Key Word(s):
Attention Grabber:
Review of the healing of the Deaf/Mute man.
Lesson:
- Leprosy was very common in Jesus' day, and people who had this disease were thought to be unclean.
- They were required to stay away from other people because of the fear that they might infect them with their disease.
- One day, Jesus was walking through a small village when he saw a group of ten lepers on his way to Jerusalem.
- They stood far away from Jesus and called to him, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us."
- Obviously, they knew who Jesus was and that he had the power to heal them.
- When Jesus heard them, he called back to the lepers and said, "Go, show yourself to the priest."
- As the lepers went on their way to see the priest, they looked at their skin and the sores were gone.
- Jesus had healed their disease.
- Suddenly, one of them stopped and went back.
- Praising God with a loud voice, he threw himself at Jesus' feet and said, "Thank You."
- Jesus said to him, "Weren't there ten who were healed? Where are the other nine?"
- Only one out of ten remembered to say, "Thank You."
Important Notes:
>Jesus told the men to go to the priest because a person who was healed of leprosy had to go to the priest to be checked out to reenter society.
>Obedience: When Jesus told the men to go to the priest they had not been healed yet, but they were healed as they went. If they had not been obedient they would not have been healed
>Gratefulness: Its just good manners to say "Thank You"
Review Questions:
- What is leprosy?Answer: a disease that causes sores all over the body.
- How many lepers were there? Answer: Ten
- Who did lepers that were healed had to go to? Answer: Priest
- How many came back to say "Thank you"? Answer: One
