Lesson:
John 3
A leader by the name
of Nicodemus had heard of Jesus. Nicodemus was a wise man, very important in
the city. Nicodemus was also a Pharisee, which meant he obeyed God's law,
believed in life after death, and that the Messiah was coming. Nicodemus was
amazed by Jesus' teachings and miracles, although, the group that Nicodemus
believed to did not. Nicodemus came to Jesus at night. He asked Jesus,"
How can I be saved". Jesus explains to him that a man had to be born again
in order to enter the kingdom of God. Nicodemus was confused by this statement
although he was a very wise man. Jesus goes further to explain that a man must
be born of water and Spirit, which meant he had to be baptized and
to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. In order words a man has
to go to some body of water and be fully cover by the water. Therefore, a fill
sprinkles from a cup will not work.
